Requesting extensions. The ONLY way of having an extension request approved is by submitting an Extenuating Circumstances claim to a Service Centre, using the online form. Only members of EC Panels have the authority to approve extension requests so please don’t ask Module Conveners or Personal Tutors to approve the request.
A time-line for the completion of outstanding work and a date for submission of the completed thesis. Requests for extensions will only be considered as a result of circumstances affecting the thesis pending period, and not the period of registered study. Students on MRes.

A Notification of Extenuating Circumstances (NEC) form allows you to inform the University that your academic performance has been affected by circumstances beyond your control. It enables you to seek guidance and support from your Academic School and, as appropriate, from Student Support Services.
Extension to Thesis Pending Period Only doctoral and Master of Philosophy students are entitled to a thesis pending period. However MRes, MSc and MA by Research students should use the process detailed below if they need to apply for an extension to their submission deadline.

The Internet Journal of Criminology presents Masters and first class undergraduate dissertations in the field of criminology, which are considered by the Editorial Board to be worthy of publication. The IJC will only publish undergraduate dissertations that receive a first class mark, and it should be noted that these criminology papers are NOT peer reviewed, edited or assessed for their quality.
I can't speak for dissertations in general, but I know that for psychology you have to pass your dissertation as well as achieving a 2:2 for BPS accreditation. This probably doesn't help you much (unless you do psychology) but we still get our degree, just not the BPS accreditation.

Extending your submission date. Your submission date For PhD, EdD, MSc and MLitt students your submission date is set at four years from your admission date for full-time students and seven years from your admission date for part-time students. You can find your submission date under 'Thesis Submission Details' on the academic tile in your CamSIS self-service.
The thesis pending period is up to a maximum of 12 months (for full-time students) or 24 months (for part-time students) or less. Students will not be permitted to present a thesis after the conclusion of this period without receiving formal approval for an extension of time (see the tab on 'extensions').
